The Eucharistic Apostles of the Divine Mercy meet each Monday evening after the 6:00pm Mass to pray together and experience the splendor of our Catholic Faith through the study of Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the Diary of Saint Faustina Kowalska. The Apostles strive to inspire and encourage one another to become true disciples of God’s Mercy, willing to lay down our lives for each other and the world.
Small Christian Communities are currently meeting in many locations of Divine Mercy Parish in the spirit of Renew Africa, providing members with a place for mutual support and encouragement in living out our Catholic Faith. The weekly meetings include on-going learning and formation, reflection on Scripture and Church teaching, prayer and worship, and mutual sharing of the joys and struggles we encounter in our personal journeys of faith. Call the parish office at (011) 949 4426 to locate an SCC in your area.
The youth meet each Sunday from 10:00am to 11:00am to look together through the eyes of faith at the troubles we encounter in life, and to build a community of Christian friendship in which we can risk being ourselves, a community that accepts us, affirms our giftedness and enables us to overcome our self-centeredness.
Our formation as Christians does not end with our full initiation into the Church at Confirmation, but continues throughout our lives. That is why Deacon Errol Scott makes on-going formation classes available each Sunday for all who are interested, to help deepen our knowledge of the Faith and to inspire us to strive more earnestly for Christian virtue.
Non-Catholics and baptized Catholics who are not fully initiated into the Church are welcome for weekly RCIA sessions, during which we explore the riches of the Catholic faith and share our own life experiences, as we allow the Lord to draw us more fully toward the Truth as revealed by His Son Jesus. Anyone over the age of 15 is welcome. Fully initiated Catholics are also invited to journey together with our Candidates and Catechumens.
The parish choir meets for practice each Saturday at 4:00pm. We serve God and minister to the parish by devoting ourselves to the proclamation of God’s Word through song, particularly during liturgical celebrations. We sing at the Youth Mass, which takes place the first Sunday of each month. Singing helps us to be more watchful in prayer and exultant in God’s praise. And praising with all our strength the One Who is truly holy, by God’s grace we can begin to resemble Him. All are welcome to join us, regardless of age.
Our parish CWL group meets in the antechapel section of our church on the third Sunday of each month after Holy Mass. All active members participate in both the spiritual and social activities of the league, which include special prayers, Community service, and participation in actions in defense of the Church, the family and the country. The CWL strives to be a sign of hope and love, of harmony and reconciliation, and a sign that people of all socio-economic and cultural groups can be united as one.
The Sacred Heart Sodality holds its monthly meeting on the first Sunday of each month immediately after Holy Mass. We do community outreach in imitation of the love of the Heart of Jesus, and works of evangelisation to help spread love of Jesus in our world. New members are welcomed.
