To fulfil the mission God has given our parish to establish a Divine Mercy Centre for Southern Africa, with facilities to accommodate greater numbers of pilgrims coming to implore special graces from the Divine Mercy, in January, 2011 ground was broken for our new Divine Mercy Shrine. The earthworks and bases for foundations, most of which were over six metres deep, were completed in November, 2011. Preparations have been made for pouring the concrete foundations, which, when completed, will ensure that the Shrine is built on solid rock, and not sand (cf. Mt 7:24-27).
The building itself is not yet visible, but is already like a mustard seed hidden in the ground, which will soon be visible to the human eye as the beginnings of our Lord’s home. There, sinners will find refuge, consolation and peace of heart in God’s gift of forgiveness (cf. Mt 13:32).
We call on everyone skilful to whom the Lord has given skill and understanding to know how to do any work in the construction of the Shrine, and everyone whose heart is stirred, to come to do the work (cf. Ex 36:1-2) to join us in shaping this great monument to the glory of the Merciful God.
“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In Him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling-place for God” (Eph 2:19-22).
Allow yourself to be built into this spiritual house, and offer spiritual sacrifices to speed its completion! (cf. 1 Pt 2:4-5). Be a living stone helping to support this magnificent abode of God’s Mercy! (See building design)
